Hear Scratching In Your Walls? It Could Be Mice

Posted on

When you lay in bed at night and hear scratching noises from in between your walls, it isn't just in your head or because you watched a scary movie the other day, you could actually have an issue with mice in your walls and in your home. If you are hearing this noise, pests such as mice may be to blame. If you aren't sure what to do about this situation, don't grab a sledgehammer just yet, if you suspect a rodent situation, you should hire a pest control company. Read on for a few other things you should do as well.

Set Traps Where You Hear The Noise

If you can hear exactly where the mice are located in your home, set traps in these areas. If there is any way to get in between the walls, such as a hole that you've spotted where the mice are getting in and out of the walls, set a trap inside the walls as well. Use fresh bait in the traps and check them every day to remove any deceased mice you've caught in the traps. If you aren't able to put the traps inside the walls, set the traps just outside of these walls, and along the baseboard. If it sounds like a lot of mice in your home, you should consider setting several traps, but be careful where you place them so as to not harm any pets or small children.

Tidy Your Kitchen

Keep your kitchen clean and tidy, as these mice are more than likely traveling throughout your house to get to food and take it back to their nest. If you hear them heading towards your kitchen every night, be sure you are keeping your kitchen as clean as you possibly can. Move all of your pantry food into sealed containers or totes that mice will have a harder time getting into. Wipe down every surface with bleach wipes and remove any built-up grease mice may be feeding off of as well, such as on top of your stove or in your oven.

Mice are very tricky pests, and they will find any way possible to get what they need to survive. They can multiply rapidly, and before you know it, you could have droves of them in your home. Hiring a mice exterminator is one thing you can do to ensure you have gotten rid of these pests completely. Call a pest control company today, so you can sleep soundly.
