What You Should Do If You Have Bed Bugs
Bed bugs are not a pest that can multiply quickly and infest your home. They can follow you around from place-to-place infesting other homes or areas where you may happen to be. If you have bed bugs in your home, they can be difficult to get rid of, which is why it's best to hire a professional pest control company to help you get rid of them for you. There may be some things you can do in the meantime as well to help you get control of these pests. Read on for some tips to help you if you have bed bugs in your home.
Remove All Clutter
Remove all clutter throughout your entire home to prevent giving bed bugs a place to hide out. Bed bugs prefer clutter and will hide in all types of places, so the more clutter you can clear out, the fewer places these pests will have to hide. Remove all clutter from around your entire home, especially in bedrooms and living spaces. Remove piles of newspaper or magazines, clothing piles, and other piles that do not belong. If you don't need these items in your home, clear them out of your home.
Vacuum All Upholstered Furniture
Use your vacuum to remove bed bugs from your upholstered furniture such as couches, upholstered chairs, and mattresses. If you have an upholstered headboard/footboard, you should use your vacuum to remove bed bugs from these surfaces as well. Vacuum your carpeting to remove bed bugs from the fibers in your carpeting. Once you have finished vacuuming, empty the canister into a trash bag outside of your house. Seal the bag tightly and place it into a trash can with a tight lid. The bag will help hold in the bed bugs and will eventually suffocate the pests.
Spray A Pesticide To Kill Bed Bugs
Use a pesticide to kill the bed bugs that still remain in your home. These pests may be in hard-to-reach areas where you cannot vacuum them. Use a pesticide spray or a bug bomb to kill these pests. A bug bomb can target all of the rooms in your home, and a spray will need to be used in every room of your home where you have spotted these pests. Spray the perimeter of the rooms and pay close attention to the baseboards where these pests may be hiding behind.
